v0.0.23 Released (Bug fixes and balance)


v0.0.23 is out!

Bug fixes and balance before the lobby update.

  • Balance Changes:
    • Acid Squirrel
      • Now returns 2 turns after it dies
      • Is no longer boneless
      • Acid squirrel did too much for virtually zero downside. Now it is worse than a regular squirrel by being less available, while still having its own benefits
    • Dead Hand
      • Is no longer rare
      • This is to allow people to use it as part of a more reliable strategy, and to encourage its use.
    • Master Orlu
      • Attack raised from 1 to 2
      • This is to better demonstrate his sigil's effect, and to make him a more viable master
    • Skelemagus
      • Cost changed from 2 bones to 4 energy
      • Skelemagus is a ridiculously consistent card, and is an incredibly powerful part of mox rushing someone, with very little practical counterplay. Giving it an energy cost should reduce the strength of this specific combo early-game, while leaving skelemagus as a viable burst damage option late-game.
    • Thief Mage
      • Banned.
      • In its current state, thief mage is basically Master Orlu for a cheaper price and as a common card.
      • He will return with a different sigil when the power level of mox has been properly evaluated after this patch.
    • Life Mage
      • Bone cost changed from 4 to 3
      • Stats changed from 1/1 to 0/2
      • This is to remove an attacking card from the Blue Mox cards, and to better fit with the Blue Mox theme of gaining card advantage / stalling
    • Blue Mage
      • Is now unhammerable
      • This is to make using Blue Mage a tradeoff of hand size for space to play moxes, and to limit the chaining ability of Blue Mage.
    • Bloody Vessel
      • Energy cost increased from 3 to 4
      • This is to give the opponent another turn to build a board before you unload on them with grizzlies. Battery bot in particular allows for stalling as well as energy growth to play vessels sooner.
    • Black Goat
      • Is now a rare card
      • This is to reduce the strength and consistency of blood rush decks to bring them more in line with the other decks
    • On the mox nerf:

      Mox, and specifically Blue Mox got hit very hard this patch, despite having a very small number of cards, and some bad cards in the form of the Master cards. This is to reduce the power of the current meta (skelemagus rush), and to encourage use of other Mox types. As always, these changes are themselves subject to change in future patches, and I and the community are open to balance suggestions on the game's Discord.

  • Other Changes:
    • Updated the card portraits for Mox Tower, Bunker, and Encampment
  • Bug Fixes:
    • The deck editor will now function correctly when switching decks
    • The deck editor will now remember the last deck used when re-opening it
    • Acid squirrels will no longer persist between games
    • Energy conduit's buff will no longer persist between games
    • Hoarder (Magpie) now functions again
    • Deck size is now displayed correctly for Empty Vessels and their variants
    • Several bugs involving dying cards being considered as alive have been fixed
